Jean Monnet University of Saint Etienne, is composed among others, of two Institutes of Technology (= IUT). The sessions during the 2-day training will take place in the IUT of Roanne on May 15th and in the IUT of Saint Etienne on May 16th.

• Founded in May 1992
• Number of students at the IUT: 750
• Part of: Université Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne
• Number of students at the University: 17,000
• Number of foreign partners: 40
• English-language programmes : in progress
• Number of international students: 23%
• The Roanne IUT has 5 BUT degrees, 5 Professional Bachelor’s degrees, and has become increasingly open to the world through the development of a study abroad programme.

Economic fabric

• The region has a strong industrial history, mainly in the textile/clothing and engineering/armament industries. Even though these two industries were restructured in the 1970s, they remain major employers. More recently, the agro-food industry has shown strong growth. The long under-represented tertiary sector has also grown recently thanks to the creation and installation of call centres and IT companies (NumeriParc).

Quality of life

• Roanne was founded on the banks of the Loire River in the Gallo-Roman era, and vestiges of that history still remain.

• Roanne also boasts a number of cultural activities.
• Roanne residents enjoy walking around the port area, a relaxing setting.
• Gastronomy: the famous Maison Troisgros, which has had 3 Michelin stars for more than 45 years!

• Number of foreign partnerships: 50 Erasmus+ agreements; bilateral agreements, member of ISEP, ORA and BCI
• English-language programme: 1 or 2 semesters in the GACO department (Administrative and Commercial Management for Organisations) and in Environment & Applied Biology Sciences
• Number of international students: 60
• Degree: 7 ;Bachelor’s Degrees
• Number of outgoing students: 200 (for internships, a semester, or the whole year)

Travel in the area

At the Airport, Lyon St Exupéry, take the shuttle RhoneExpress to the city center.

Then, take the train from Lyon to Roanne. Buy yout ticket online.

Accommodation

There are two hotels from the trainstation. It takes 10 min by walking to go to the campus of Roanne.
